quarterlife

Stephanie Cole got me addicted to this show. They release a new one every Thursday and Sunday night. They are pretty short, only about 10-15 min long.

www.quarterlife.com

I got this info from the website...

quarterlife is the new online series from Marshall Herskovitz and Edward Zwick, the creative team behind “My So-Called Life,” “thirtysomething,” “Legends of the Fall,” and “Blood Diamond.” It is the first time a true, network-quality series has been produced directly for the Internet. And it’s the first time an independent project of this distinction has been owned and controlled by its creators.

Known for their incisive portrayals of relationships and experience during life’s key passages, in quarterlife Herkovitz and Zwick take on those crucial years between 20 and 30, when so many of life’s important decisions are made. quarterlife tells the ongoing stories of six creative people in their twenties. As with their earlier series, at the center of quarterlife is a commitment to realism, the recognition of universal human themes through the truthful depiction of the way young people speak, work, think, love, argue, and just goof around.

Starting with Dylan, a young woman whose overly truthful video blog (on quarterlife.com of course) spills the closest secrets of her friends, the show’s characters – filmmakers Danny and Jed, actress-bartender Lisa, geek-extraordinaire Andy, and still-tied-to-her-parents Debra – chart the sometimes excruciating, sometimes comic, often emotional experiences that comprise coming of age in the 21st Century.

Baby Lee and V

Janet and I hosted a baby shower for Vanessa and John on Saturday at Kilkennys. Here is the tattoo from the shower. It was such a fun invite to do. I really enjoyed creating it. If you know Vanessa, you would know how perfect it was for her. Both she and John have ALOT of tattoos and they are also not finding out what sex the baby is. It's going to be a surprise, which I think is so fantastic :) We had a great time.

Woodward Tent

John and I went out to Woodward Park here in Tulsa a few weekends ago. This is the first photo I took with the Mamiyaflex Twin Lens camera my grandfather gave me. He used it for thirty years as the chief photographer for Boeing.

Missy, Will and I

When my mother married Randy in 96, Will was working for Randy at Slocoms Restaurant. That didn't last long, soon after Randy started Randy's Pier 61 and moved to another location in Anacortes. Will was one of our first friends in Anacortes. So every time I visit I go see him at The Brown Lantern.

Denver Art Museum

I took this during our visit to the Denver Art Museum on Saturday. V & P had already been there, but it was my first time. I spent a good thirty minutes photographing the building. This is one of my favorites from the group.

We Won Gold!

Denver was great! We went to the dinner on Friday night, our flight was delayed a bit so we got there just as the presentation was starting. John and I won 2 Gold medals for his identity system and the small books we did. I met lots of Denver creatives and spent some quality time with good friends. Also in attendance were Jimmy (D & P's other partner) and his wife Nicole who is always so fun.

ADCD Awards

Friday I am heading up to Denver with my good pals Vanessa and John to visit Paula and Dallas and go to the awards show for the Art Directors of Denver. A series of promotional books that I did with John have been accepted into the show. Other things on the agenda for the weekend is the Clifford Still Exhibition at the Denver Art Museum and a walking tour of loDo (lower downtown Denver). Will take plenty of pics!

Break-Ups

I just love this radio show. I listen to it religiously. I can't wait till Monday every week. I sit by the computer barely able to sit still while my iTunes downloads the podcast. The stories are incredible and the latest show has to be my favorite in the last few months. It's all about break-ups and how awful they are, though everyone goes through them. If you think about it. Every person has broken-up with every person they dated until they got married! That's alot of breaking up. It is always hard, most every single time it happens. Download the podcast here

Saturday we wandered around, took photos, found Wayne's house and went by Edna's for a lunch box and signed a dollar bill. Saturday night we saw Phil play at Tapwerks then Sunday we had a greek meal with Kathy's parents. These photos aren't the best, will load more on flickr soon!

"Once" How often do you find the right person?

I saw this movie Sunday and absolutely LOVED it. A friend had already sent me the soundtrack which I was addicted to by the time I saw the movie. It is so beautiful and sad and inspirational all at the same time. Makes me wish I had a piano at my house so I could relearn how to play. Here is the link to the trailer Once.

Olympic Sculpture Park

Seattle Art Museum just opened a public sculpture park at the end of the piers in Seattle. Missy and I stopped by there when I was in town 2 weekends ago for my step-sister Hollie's wedding. This photo was my favorite of the group because you can see a bird and a plane in the sky above the metal tree. The sculpture is called Split by Roxy Paine.

Boston Ave. Methodist

I had a nice easy Memorial Day weekend. I mostly stuck to Tulsa, got to hang out with friends alot. On Monday I borrowed a lens from my photographer friend John amatucciphotography.com and wandered around Tulsa all afternoon, ducking the rain periodically. This photo was my favorite from the batch, I took it outside my church. Well it isn't really MY church, I'm not a member. It was designed in the 1920s by Adah Robinson. It's 2 blocks from my house and I pass it every day to and from work. I call it my church because I love the building and I'm so lucky to be able to see it every day.

I take ALOT of photographs every where I go, but I barely have any from where I live. So I thought I''d take an afternoon and explore. I just barely got to take photos of everything. There are some more places downtown I'd like to explore, but I am hesitant to do it alone or without permission. (I have learned from Jeremy and Scott's run-ins with the law!!)

Woolaroc

Sunday my friend from New Zealand, Geoff, and I went up to Wollaroc. He had never seen bison before, so we traveled the hour or so drive north to the Frank Phillips ranch to check it out. We threw tomahawks, petted horses and goats, saw deer, buffalo, mountain goats, water buffalo, ostrich, emu, and this little lizard. He was just sunning himself on a rock next to the road when I spotted him. He was more then happy to pose for the photo.

Weekend @ Grand

My friend Josiah graduated from law school this weekend. His wife Lizzie has a family cabin at Grand Lake. They cooked a ton of food and we got to go out on the boat for short ride. I took this on the way.

Great Clouds

Last week we had a great cloud day. I was just down the street from the Cains Ballroom over lunch so I grabbed my camera and took a few shots. Cains is a historic ballroom where Bob Wills started performing 1934. It is my favorite venue to see music in this region. I saw Yo La Tengo there 2 weeks ago. The Faint is performing at the beginning of June, but unfortunately I will be in Seattle.

"Quotation Mark" Abuse

"Quotation Mark" Abuse

I sometimes have problems with quotation marks. Somehow between cutting and pasting, they occasionally default to the wrong quotes. Maybe it's a mac thing. I need to learn to spot them when they are wrong. Anyway, I thought this was interesting.

Lucie at almost 4 months

I went to Stillwater on Friday night to visit my dad, step-mom, and Kristen. I was able to spend most of Saturday at the Anthony's home where I got to play and photograph Lucie. I hadn't seen here in 3 months or so. What a surprise to see how much she has grown. She is a happy baby and extremely adorable. Luke is waiting to hear about his bar exam results, which should be Friday. Jen, the happy mom, is busy getting back to work at OSU.

Madison Ave. during the day

I took this last week at the peak of Redbud blooms. This is a look down Madison in the opposite direction as the night shot.

Madison Ave. at night

I was walking Sunday night after it had rained most of the day when I passed Madison Ave. in the Maple Ridge neighborhood (where I live). The street has a divider that is lined with Redbuds. I love this street more then any other in my neighborhood. I thought this had an erie feel. Not scary necessarily. Makes me wish I had a tripod though.
